Bring in the New Year with a Fantastic Celebration
By
Is it really time to be discussing New Year’s Eve? Doesn’t it seem like 2009 just started? Well, whether or not if feels like this year went by too quickly, it is time to prepare for 2010, and considering this marks the end of the first decade in the new millennium, we think a tremendous celebration is in order. The good news for Rockledge residents is that you have a myriad of December 31st options right around the corner, whether you are looking for an adult-only party or something fun for the whole family.
- For the budget-minded folks, turn to Crepe Revolution in Smyrna. The one-of-a-kind restaurant is hosting the 1st Annual New Year’s Revolution Bash. The party begins at 10 p.m. and is only $15 per person. The price includes a complimentary cocktail, appetizers, live music and a champagne toast at midnight. Don’t worry, there will be a cash bar all evening offering specials on cocktails, wine and beer in case you want more than one cocktail. DJ Derek, from D Street Entertainment will be providing the soundtrack for the evening’s festivities. It is a 21 and over event. They are only selling a limited number of tickets, which means that you won’t be battling an unmanageable crowd, but that you should go ahead and call to reserve your spot 770-485-7440.
- Something a little pricier but extraordinarily entertaining is the Muss & Turner’s New Year’s Eve celebration, also in Smyrna. With an 80’s theme, you’ll be hearing some of the decade’s greatest hits all night long, as well as seeing classic 80’s movies displayed on loop on the 80″ HD TV. Beginning at 8:00 p.m., different chefs will be preparing dishes live on stage! The chefs include Gregg Baker, Ben Barth, Chris Hall and Ryan Hidinger with such dishes as butter poached main lobster, braised lamb, truffle salmon tartar and so much more. Also starting at 8:00 p.m. are the “grubbin stations,” with traditional bar food for you to dine on. Tickets are $59 per person. And, to top off the evening, Muss & Turner will be roasting a whole Berkshire hog in La Caja China outside the front door leading up to the party, which will later be chopped and served to patrons. I think it’s safe to say there is no other New Year’s Eve celebration like this one in all of Atlanta. Space is limited, so you’ll want to go ahead and reserve your seat now: 770-434-1114.
- If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with your kids, then you can’t miss the Radio Disney Noon Year’s Eve celebration at the Smyrna Community Center. This is a giant dance party that begins at 10:30 a.m on December 31st and counts down to noon. This way, kids can still experience the excitement of a countdown to 12 without having to try and stay up so late. There will be a cider toast at noon and a balloon drop. The day will consist of great games, contests and fun prizes.
These are just a few options close to Rockledge for you to enjoy your New Year’s Eve. Of course, do remember that Rockledge is conveniently located near I-285 and I-75, so if you are looking to commute to Buckhead or Downtown Atlanta for New Year’s Eve, you’ll have an easy trip.
Happy New Year’s everyone!
