Dragon*Con is coming up on Labor Day weekend

Approximately 40,000 people flock to Atlanta every Labor Day for a weekend of film, gaming, science fiction, comics, music, literature, and art at Dragon*Con. This year will mark the 24th anniversary of the convention which continues to grow each year. There are currently over 400 special guests confirmed for 2010 including celebrity authors, actors, musicians, illustrators, and more.

August Movie Nights at Rockledge

Rockledge Apartments in Marietta will be showing a variety of movies in its new 80 seat movie theater throughout the month of August. The resort community on the Chattahoochee River has announced the following movie schedule for its residents:
Thursday, August 12th at 7PM: The Hangover
Thursday, August 19th at 7PM: Sex and the City
Saturday, August 21st at NOON: Alice in Wonderland
Thursday, August 26th at 7PM: Superbad
Tickets for each movie can be reserved by visiting the Rockledge Clubhouse. Please note that seating is limited and tickets are distributed on a first come basis. Popcorn and beverages will be served 30 minutes before each show in the party room located on the third floor of the clubhouse across from the movie theater.
One of the most spectacular amenities in the new 18,000 square foot clubhouse at Rockledge Apartments in Marietta is the 80 seat movie theater with surround sound and real theater seats. The highly anticipated theater opened in May of this year with Dragon*Con presenting a few short films in the theater at Grand Opening.
Since that time, Rockledge has held several movie night for residents with complimentary popcorn and beverages always served 30 minutes before each show. While movie nights will continue at Rockledge, the resort community has a VERY EXCITING announcement! Residents at Rockledge will now be able to reserve the movie theater for their own private viewings with friends and family.

Movie nights at Rockledge Apartments in Atlanta are FREE! So come enjoy some great films and complimentary popcorn in the new 80 seat movie theater with surround sound. Rockledge has planned three movie nights in July including the following:
Wednesday, July 14th at 7PM: INTO THE WILD (Rated R) presented by the Outdoor Adventure Club of the South. PLOT- After graduating from Emory University, top student and athlete Christopher McCandless abandons his possessions, gives his entire $24,000 savings account to charity and hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher encounters a series of characters that shape his life.
Thursday, July 22nd at 7PM: Dragon*Con presents Pushin’ Up Daisies. (The filmmaker, Patrick Franklin, will be in attendance!) Synopsis- A fledgling filmmaker returns to his small, rural hometown to make a documentary about flowers and their significance at the major stages of human life: birth, death, marriage, etc. Hopelessly obsessed with capturing truth and reality, the filmmaker is none too pleased when a sudden, inexplicable ZOMBIE uprising turns ‘reality’ on its head.

The highly anticipated theatrical release of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is June 30th and residents at Rockledge Apartments in Marietta will have an opportunity to revisit the first two films in the series on Wednesday, June 30th and Thursday, July 1st.
Rockledge will be showing Twilight and New Moon on consecutive nights in the community’s 80 seat movie theater with Twilight showing at 7PM on June 30th and New Moon starting at 7PM on July 1st. Popcorn and beverages will be served 30 minutes before the start of each film in the Rockledge party room, directly across from the theater.

Rockledge Apartments in Marietta has partnered with Dragon*Con to present monthly independent films in the community’s new 80 seat movie theater. In June, Dragon*Con presented “Animation Extravaganza” at Rockledge which featured several short animated films that had either been previously shown at the Dragon*Con Independent Film Festival or will be screened at the upcoming festival in September.

Residents at Rockledge Apartments in Marietta are treated to movie screenings every week in the community’s new private 80 seat movie theater. Next week will be no different when Rockledge presents TRANSFORMERS on Thursday, June 24th at 7PM.
All movies in the theater are complimentary for residents and free popcorn and beverages are served 30 minutes before each show in the huge Rockledge party room. The party room is located on the third floor of the clubhouse directly across from the theater.

Dragon*Con will be presenting several comedic and fantastical short animated films in the new 80 seat movie theater at Rockledge Apartments in Atlanta on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 7 p.m. Films include a few Academy Award nominees and the latest from acclaimed animator Bill Plympton.
Films titles include The Bone Orchard, Enter The Sandbox, Whale, Badgered, Puppet, Chroma Chameleon, and Theosaurology. While it may seem like quite a few movies for one night, the films are only a combined 90 minutes long making for an entertaining night of animation.

The Georgia BIG PICTURE Conference has partnered with Rockledge Apartments in Marietta, GA to present two films in the community’s 80 seat movie theater on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 7 p.m. The two films, Foreign Exchange and Wizard of Agni, are a combined 60 minutes long and both directed by filmmaker Ken Feinberg.

Rockledge Apartments in Atlanta recently opened a new 80 seat movie theater on the third floor of the community’s 18,000 square foot clubhouse. At the grand opening event on May 4th, residents were treated to a unique movie experience when Director of Dragon*Con, Matthew Foster, presented two short films by local filmmakers Brandon McCormick and Frank Fearon.
Residents were wowed by the great films, surround sound system and real movie theater seating. The big question at the end of the night was “When is the first movie night at Rockledge?” Luckily for residents, they do not have to wait long to see more movies in the theater.
