Fun on the Chattahoochee River
By
Many folks in Georgia flock to the Chattahoochee River every summer to enjoy rafting, kayaking, fishing, hiking, or just relaxing along the banks. Residents at Rockledge Apartments in Marietta are just a stone’s throw away from all the action with access trails leading down to the river at Cochran Shoals and Powers Island.
One of the many fun activities on the Chatthoochee River during the summer months is rafting. The lower portion of the Chattahoochee River near Rockledge is ideal for beginners with light rapids that allow you to sit back and enjoy the views without too much paddling. Rafts, canoes, kayaks, and tubes can all be rented from “Shoot the Hooch” or you can purchase your own at many local retail stores such as Sports Authority and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
The closest put in point for rafts and boats from Rockledge is Powers Island directly behind the community on North Interstate Parkway. It takes approximately two to three hours to float down to the take out point at Paces Mill. You’ll most likely see a variety of birds and animals along your journey and its recommended that you take plenty of water and a life jacket.
We hope you enjoy your adventure on the Chattahoochee River!!
